Those not familiar with the Veneto region will be surprised by how many lovely cities of art there are apart from the world-renowned Venice. Padua, Vicenza, Treviso, Verona, Belluno and Rovigo – each main city has a historic centre where you can discover the evidence of its glorious artistic and historic events. Padua has the Santo and the Scrovegni; Vicenza has its palaces, theatre and basilica by Palladio; Treviso has an unspoilt Medieval town centre; Verona its Arena; Belluno its Venetian heritage and Rovigo its Rotonda, to name just a few of these symbolic places.

There are also smaller towns that are just as beautiful and characteristic, like Bassano del Grappa and Marostica in the Vicenza area, Castelfranco, Montagnana and Cittadella, between Treviso and Padua, historic walled cities with ancient Medieval bastions that are largely still intact.
